Horrible Design

The design of this dryer is HORRIFIC! Cleaning the lint screen and replacing spreads lint all over the top of the dry. Oh, not to worry, the top is curved and slanted toward the floor. If you need to sit anything on top, it goes straight to the floor along with all the lint debris from cleaning the lint screen. It does a fine job of drying.

So far so good. The dryer performs exactly as expected, and was set at a reasonable price point for what I got. The only hold up is the lint filter being on top and making a mess on top of the machine every time it is pulled out of the holder, and the auto dry settings set the cycle signal off every couple minutes during the wrinkle prevention setting. It is what it is, I won't get rid of it for these minor issues, but they are slightly annoying. Otherwise it is a fine dryer that does what I need it to.

The large capacity of this dryer is excellent. I really like that the tumble action makes an even amount of heat distribution. I am very happy that the appliance dries evenly and completely, even when set on medium.

Simple and straightforward machine that dries the clothes well! We™™ve not had this long but it is handling small and large loads, has easy to use controls, and most importantly, it dries the clothes in the time set. Looking forward to this lasting longer than our previous ™fancier™ dryer.

We love our new drier. It is much quieter than our old Maytag dryer. It has plenty of capacity for our needs, and is simple to operate. We especially enjoy the way the dryer distributes heat, and makes drying a load of clothes faster and more economical. We also like the Wrinkle Protection feature. We have tried to stay with Maytag products. My Dad used to repair various brands of appliances, and he always thought Maytag was superior.

Giving this two stars as it will dry your clothes, but the dryer emits a high pitched noise during the cycle and Maytag/Whirlpool will not fix. Service technician has been out multiple times, replaced a few parts but the issue remains. The last time they came out with parts to try but during that specific visit they could not hear the noise so refused to swap the parts. Despite the fact that this technician had heard it himself on previous visits and even took a video of the issue to show Whirlpool the previous visit which prompted these new parts. Now the tech will not come back out so we are stuck with this insufferable sound. Have explained the issue to the service support line but they have not helped.

After less than 3 months of owning this model, it runs nonstop because the timing board is faulty. Little did we know that Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool, which is the brand we were trying to avoid. Luckily the dryer was defective on a Sunday and customer service is only available Monday through Friday. Nothing is cheap, but a unit lasting led than 3 months is beyond absurd.

Just installed in summer 2026: Good capacity, like the interior drum light, like the wrinkle prevention, tumble action is good but somewhat noisy, like the analog vs digital features for selecting heat and cycles. Easy to understand the manual. Much lighter and less expensive materials than the Maytag Neptune we purchased 23 years ago but hoping this version will last at least 10 years.

Brand New Maytag Dryer does not dry clothes- it steams them! Multiple repeated cycles are needed to dry a single medium sized load of average clothes. This ™dyer™ takes over an hour on ™high™ heat to dry one set of queen size cotton percale sheets! My previous 25-year old dryer did that in 25 minutes. Don™™t waste your money! And, Maytag ™customer service™ is just as inefficient as their ™dryers™ - multiple daily phone calls, hours on hold, transferred from department to department, with no scheduled service appointment or resolution, just a 4 week old very expensive non-functional appliance cosplaying a clothes dryer.

Very Disappointed With My New Maytag Dryer
Johnso2tl
9/3/2026
I am extremely disappointed with my new Maytag dryer. My frustration is not with where I purchased it, but with the quality and performance of the Maytag product itself.
I have to run the dryer at least three times before my clothes are completely dry. Having to restart a brand-new dryer multiple times just to get a normal load of clothes dry is extremely frustrating and is not the performance I expected from Maytag.
Another issue is the amount of lint that collects around the dryer door when I open it. Lint gathers around the door area and in the crevices, which is not something I experienced with my previous dryer. It makes the appliance feel poorly designed and adds another inconvenience to using it.
What makes this even more disappointing is that I was told by the Lowe™™s sales representative that Maytag and Whirlpool are made by the same company and that this Maytag dryer would be comparable to my previous Whirlpool. I trusted that information when making my purchase.
My previous Whirlpool dryer lasted 13 years and only began having problems in 2026, which is why I finally decided it was time to replace it. After having such a long-lasting and reliable experience with Whirlpool, I expected the Maytag brand to provide comparable quality and performance.
Unfortunately, this new Maytag dryer has been a major disappointment. For a brand-new appliance, I should not have to run my clothes through three drying cycles, and I should not be dealing with excessive lint collecting around the dryer door.
I purchased this product expecting the quality and reliability associated with the Maytag name, but based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend this dryer. I sincerely hope Maytag takes these concerns seriously and addresses the quality issues with this product.

This is a very dependable and good basic dryer. It has a great capacity size and the heat capability is great. Great dryer for everyday needs...however...I am having a tremendous amount of trouble with wrinkling and things such as sheets and larger items betting bundled up. You constantly have to keep an eye on it. The machine is consistently durable with just a few minor issues.

We've had other Maytag dryers in the past but there are several items on this model that I find inferior. The top is slanted now so if you have a laundry basket or clothes that should not be dried on top while it's running they will end up on the floor. I don't like the new notification that it continues to fluff and alert for many attempts after it goes off. I understand more than once but it becomes excessive. Lastly, the drum is already becoming discolored blue, but that has happened on our two prior models and appears to only be cosmetic. The dryer does have a large capacity and so far seems to have dried most of our loads in one cycle. I also feel that the lint trap has been upgraded and I see it as an improvement.

Absolutely love this dryer. Just simple, not complicated, easy to understand dials and functions. Does exactly what I expected. Amazing how quickly and efficiently it drys anything I put into it. The drum is large enough for a Queen comforter so it moves it a lot to dry the entire comforter. I like the wrinkle prevent option and it works flawlessly. Very happy with this purchase!

Unhappy customer!!!
8/26/2026
This model was not available to look at or touch at my appliance store, so there are some things about it that I didn't know about. I probably would not have chosen this model if I had known these things. Firstly, I have been using dryers for decades and never came across this until now. The dryer has a slight slope down from the control panel to the front. I take out the dried item, fold it on the dryer and then move it to the washer so it's sorted before I put it in the basket to put away. The slope makes it so that anything I place on it slides off. This is inconvenient and undesirable. I looked up why it is sloped; it is to keep people from putting heavy items on it repeatedly. So make the top more sturdy rather than disadvantaging the customer/user. I have ordered a clear rubber adhesive strip to put on it to hopefully help.
Secondly, the dryer is very low, basically floor level. I am relatively tall and don't like having to reach almost to the floor to pull out the clothes. Inconvenient and not ergonomically friendly.
The good news? It's not super loud, it holds large loads and dries the clothes.

This dryer was very cheaply make. Faisal y advertised by Lowes as a stainless steel drum. Nope painted steel white. Called and complained and got no resolution by Lowes. Said they would call e to switch the dry and no call back. Lowes is a joke and so is this dryer. The setting knob is so cheaply made. It is clear it will break off very soon. Don™™t waste your money on this item and don™™t buy appliances from Lowes. I purchase a kitchen package along with these and two of those items arrived damaged. So did the matching washer.
